Keeping Your Canine’s Treats Perfectly Crisp

Keeping Your Canine’s Treats Perfectly Crisp

At Lunar Treats, we take pride in baking every batch by hand right here in London, Kentucky. Because we use wholesome, real ingredients and skip the artificial preservatives, our treats require a little bit of extra love when it comes to storage. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your pup’s snacks as fresh as the day they left our ovens.

The Golden Rule: Keep It Cool and Dry

Moisture is the natural enemy of a perfect, crunchy treat. Even in a small-batch bakery setting, changes in humidity can soften those satisfying snaps our treats are known for. Always store your Lunar Treats in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight or kitchen appliances that generate heat, like your oven or dishwasher. A dark cupboard or a dedicated pantry shelf is the perfect 'space station' for your stash.

Airtight is Right

Once you open a bag of our celestial delights, the best way to maintain that signature crunch is to ensure the package is sealed tightly. If you prefer to transfer them, choose an airtight glass jar or a high-quality BPA-free plastic container. Using an airtight container prevents air exposure, which helps lock in the natural aromas of our premium ingredients that dogs love so much. If you have a large supply, consider keeping a small portion in a handy treat jar for daily rewards and keeping the rest sealed in a larger container to preserve their integrity.

A Note on Longevity

Since our recipes are preservative-free, we recommend consuming your treats within a few weeks of opening. If you’ve stocked up on a special batch for the month, you can actually freeze them! Simply place the treats in a freezer-safe bag, squeeze out the excess air, and pop them in the freezer. When your pup is ready for a treat, just take out what you need and let them thaw for a few minutes. They will taste just as wonderful as when they were fresh-baked. Happy snacking to your furry best friend!
